Overview
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a qualified staff nurse to develop in a busy, friendly team where your skills and ideas are valued and your development supported. This role will be a 12 hour shift pattern. We are looking to recruit an RMN to undertake the role of a staff nurse on PICU at the Princess of Wales Hospital, providing assessment and treatment to adults with various mental health conditions.
Responsibilities
* Work as a registered mental health nurse in the in-patient setting of the Mental Health service.
* Manage own caseload of patients and act as an expert resource in care and treatment of patients with mental health problems in the area of practice.
* Using the Mental Health Measure 2012 framework to assess, plan, implement and evaluate needs; work with individuals using the recovery process to agree realistic outcomes.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team care reviews; ensure reviews are carried out regularly and documented in inpatient records.
* Administer, monitor and supervise prescribed medication.
* Observe, report and document therapeutic effects and any side effects using evidence-based scales.
* Offer support, advice and information to carers/relatives; encourage participation in care planning while maintaining confidentiality.
* Contribute to clinical reviews/case formulation and provide written reports as required, including Mental Health Tribunals.
* Adhere to relevant policies and procedures in all areas of clinical practice.
Qualifications and requirements
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current registration.
* Experience in inpatient mental health settings; ability to work in a 12-hour shift pattern.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with people with complex mental health needs within a multidisciplinary team.
* Welsh language skills desirable (speaking/listening Level 3 equivalent to CEFR B2) but not essential.
