Children’s Support Worker Location: Staffordshire – commutable from Birmingham Contract: Full-time, permanent Shifts: 24/7 rota (days, nights, weekends, sleep-ins where applicable) We are recruiting Children’s Support Workers to join a residential service supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) and associated complex needs. This is a rewarding, hands-on role where you will help provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, enabling young people to develop confidence, emotional regulation, and life skills. Key Responsibilities * Provide consistent, child-centred care and emotional support * Promote positive behaviour, boundaries, and daily routines * Support young people with education, activities, appointments, and daily living skills * De-escalate challenging situations using approved approaches * Maintain accurate records in line with care plans and safeguarding procedures * Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals * Act as a positive role model and reliable adult presence About You * Experience working with children or young people (residential care, SEN, SEMH, education, youth work, or similar) * Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent approach * Strong communication and teamwork skills * Willingness to work a rota including evenings, nights, and weekends * Genuine motivation to support vulnerable young people Desirable (not essential): * Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare * Experience within EBD or SEMH residential settings * Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent training * Full UK driving licence What’s on Offer * Comprehensive induction and ongoing training * Clear progression opportunities (Senior Support Worker, Deputy roles) * Supportive management and team culture * Enhanced pay for nights, weekends, and sleep-ins * The opportunity to make a real and lasting difference Safeguarding Commitment This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check, full employment references, and safeguarding screening.
