About the Role: The Phlebotomist is an essential member of the healthcare team, responsible for collecting and preparing blood and other specimens for laboratory testing. This role requires skillful venipuncture techniques, attention to detail, and the ability to provide a calm, professional experience for patients. The Phlebotomist ensures all samples are accurately labeled, handled, and processed in accordance with regulatory and safety standards. Client Information: This healthcare provider offers essential laboratory services, focusing on accurate specimen collection and preparation for medical testing. They are dedicated to patient care and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities: • Perform venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles for blood specimen collection • Label, centrifuge, package, and store specimens according to established procedures • Greet patients professionally and clearly explain the collection process to ease anxiety • Ensure proper identification and matching of requisition forms with specimen tubes • Maintain compliance with OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety regulations • Accurately document patient information, specimen data, and test requisitions • Respond to phone inquiries and communicate lab results as appropriate • Maintain cleanliness and safety of work environment and equipment • Attend required annual department training sessions • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management Qualification: • Associate's Degree Required Skills: • Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years. • Proficient in specimen collection procedures and blood draw techniques • Knowledge of lab protocols, safety regulations, and compliance standards • Ability to interact with patients professionally, calmly, and compassionately • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills Preferred Skills: • Prior experience in a high-volume or hospital-based lab setting is a plus • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
