About the role

The REF Impact Case Study Writer will play a pivotal role in supporting the development of impact case studies submitted by the Humanities Division to REF 2029. The postholder will work alongside professional services staff and academics across the Humanities Division, advising on how best to articulate impact achieved through research, and providing hands-on, specialist writing support in order to support the preparation of a high-quality REF impact submission.

The postholder will draft, edit and provide constructive feedback on case study narratives, apply rigorous checks on the eligibility of each element of the case study, and investigate and curate sources of corroborating evidence.

About you

You will need to build strong, collaborative relationships with academic and professional service staff across the faculties of the Division. You will develop a deep and nuanced understanding of the REF 2029 guidance on research impact, and be able to accurately apply this knowledge when writing up case studies.

You will bring experience of communications, technical writing, and/or journalism to produce convincing, high-quality prose that outlines the impact of specific humanities research. You will have the ability to work collaboratively, as well as demonstrate a keen attention to detail.

You will also have strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle a busy portfolio of work.
