Six-month GP Locum with the possibility of a permanent Salaried Post
Whitesands Medical Practice, Dunbar
Come to sunny Dunbar... a great little seaside town, only 20 minutes from Edinburgh by train, with easy access to beautiful beaches and the Lammermuir Hills.
We are looking for a Locum GP to join our friendly team for a six-month post. If projected GMS funding allows, we expect to convert this to a permanent salaried post and possibly increase the number of sessions. The post is for four sessions per week and is available now. The successful candidate would be expected to take their share of Docman and would need to be able to work Fridays.
Our focus is on continuity of care, sustainable working and practitioner wellbeing, working to 15-minute appointments, with usually no more than 25 patient contacts per day, and mostly face-to-face. We have high levels of patient satisfaction and few complaints. We meet for coffee (or tea) every day and prioritise regular protected admin time (including for this post) and away-days. We are supportive of GPs developing other interests and are keen to evolve the way we work within the modern NHS, while protecting the core elements of traditional general practice that still make this the best job in the world.
We have a loyal and enthusiastic administrative team and a list size of about 5,000 across a broad social demographic. Our clinical team currently consists of three part-time partners, two part-time salaried GPs, a practice nurse and a healthcare assistant. While we have a diverse rural population, stretching across two counties, many of our house calls can be done on foot or by bike (practice electric bicycle available for use).
We work from an attractive, well planned, purpose-built medical centre that provides a pleasant working environment and is shared with two other similar-sized practices. All three practices have a full complement of GPs and a common philosophy of care. We have a good range of services on site including practice pharmacy team, district nurses, care home team, health visitors, midwife, physiotherapy, primary care substance use nurse and CTACS. Dunbar has a vibrant third sector and high levels of community engagement which allow us the opportunity to provide holistic, de-medicalised care where appropriate.
Informal visits are encouraged, and we have locum shifts available if you want to try us out first.
