In addition to your clinical caseload, you will have the opportunity to play a key part in the development of the Therapy service and the team. As well as lead on service development and quality improvement projects.
Are you an Occupational Therapist with a passion for Specialist Medicine including renal frailty? This opportunity allows you to work in the specialist West London Renal Transplant Centre. You will be the senior therapist within the Specialist Medicine team collaboratively working as part of the integrated Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy team. Possessing the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure is critical to your success. It is important that the successful applicant is a team player with a positive outlook, enthusiasm and ability to learn and develop new skills.
Demonstrating a sound knowledge and experience in specialist medicine including renal frailty and possessing highly specialist assessment skills, treatment and risk management skills are a must. The ability to work autonomously, but also well within a multi-disciplinary team is essential, as is the ability to promote the role of Therapies and the implementation of evidence-based practice.

Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be part of an Integrated Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy service, meeting the needs of a multi-cultural and diverse population. As a senior member of a committed team, they will be responsible for providing an advanced standard of Occupational Therapy to Renal patients at Hammersmith Hospital.
2. The role is required to also support other specialist medical areas within the service as and when required. The post holder will assist the multi-disciplinary team by contributing to the planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy service within this highly specialist area. Working closely with the Clinical Lead and other senior staff the post holder will act as a resource of advice to the rest of the OT service and wider multi-disciplinary teams.
3. The role is based at Hammersmith Hospital, a specialist hospital renowned for its strong research connections. It offers a range of services, including renal, haematology, cancer, cardiothoracics, cardiology, upper gastric and hepatobiliary care, and runs the West London Renal Transplant Centre, Oncology specialist Stem cell transplant and Specialist Heart Attack Centre. Our service provides a high quality OT service with the objective to maximise our patient's functional abilities in order to facilitate safe discharges home or to alternate environments.

EDUCATION
Essential
4. Degree/Diploma Occupational Therapy
5. HCPC registration
6. Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance/training relevant to this post
Desirable
7. Member of relevant RCOT Specialist Section or relevant to ICU
8. Course in prescription of wheelchairs and seating. Advanced postural management training.
EXPERIENCE
Essential
9. Extensive experience in the acute hospital setting including any relevant experience in acute specialist medicine
10. Experience of collaborative working in the MDT
11. Experience in providing OT interventions for patients with respiratory needs
12. Knowledge of core OT skills in both physical and mental health areas
Desirable
13. Previous Band 7 experience in relevant areas
14. Previous experience in leading service improvement, service developing, monitoring, evaluating and auditing services
15. Experience of being the lead supervisor of staff
16. Clinical research experience
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Essential
17. Advanced evidence based knowledge of assessment and treatment approaches for the effective management of medical presentations and conditions, and with special interest in treating renal disorders such as renal failures, transplants and dialysis
18. Good awareness of integrated working
19. Advanced knowledge of medical clinical diagnostic parameters and clinically reason appropriateness of patient for therapy intervention.
20. Expert knowledge of audit, quality improvement and research
