We're seeking an experienced and creative Sous Chef to join our esteemed culinary team at a prestigious independent restaurant and pub group in Leeds city centre. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside a highly respected Head Chef in a stunning venue that prides itself on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and innovative cuisine. Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and maintaining high culinary standards
• Lead and inspire a talented kitchen team during fast-paced service periods
• Contribute to menu development, focusing on seasonal ingredients and creative dish presentations
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including HACCP procedures and allergen protocols
• Manage inventory, control food costs, and minimize waste
• Train and mentor junior chefs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and culinary excellence
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
• Assist in implementing sustainability initiatives and supporting local producers
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior kitchen role
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a kitchen team effectively
• Extensive knowledge of various culinary techniques, food trends, and international cuisines
• Excellent understanding of food safety regulations, HACCP, and allergen management
• Proficiency in kitchen management, including inventory control, cost management, and menu planning
• Creative flair for developing innovative dishes and presenting food to a high standard
• Passion for using fresh, seasonal, and locally-sourced ingredients
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends
• Competitive salary of £31,000 per annum plus tips
• 45-hour work week with straight shifts (5 days out of 7)
