The role
As a Mechanical Senior Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of our aircraft maintenance operations, leading a skilled team to ensure the safety, airworthiness, and readiness of critical defence assets. This is a hands-on leadership role where your technical expertise and ability to guide others will directly support the UK’s air capability and make a meaningful impact on national security.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Leading and supervising maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and components.
2. Ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with airworthiness standards.
3. Supporting flying operations during peak periods and assisting with turnaround maintenance.
4. Providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced technicians.
5. Maintaining compliance with technical documentation and organisational procedures.
You’ll be based at RAF Valley, working 37.5 hours per week on a Monday to Friday shift pattern (–). This is an onsite role, with occasional voluntary recovery travel.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Senior Supervisor:
6. Experience at supervisor level with full trade authorities.
7. Aircraft platform training and fault diagnosis experience.
8. Familiarity with Quality and Air Safety Management Systems.
9. Proven ability to lead and support a dynamic technical team.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Senior Supervisor:
10. City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering.
11. Aviation Engineering Apprenticeship.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
