As a DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a multi-functional agile delivery team, working on the design, development, and maintenance of infrastructure-as-code, configuration-as-code, continuous integration, and deployment for DWP services. You will have access to extensive expertise within our DevOps community, providing a supportive environment to grow your skills and career.
Responsibilities include:
* Understanding business requirements and translating them into code.
* Contributing to automated unit and integration tests.
* Ensuring services are scalable, resilient, and highly available.
* Identifying issues that impact software delivery.
* Writing simple, flexible code for deployment and configuration.
* Optimizing development processes.
* Participating in community discussions on best practices and automation.
Required skills and knowledge:
* Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle, version control, and issue management.
* Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure), containerization, and Infrastructure as Code.
* Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment.
* Strong communication skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
* Decision-making confidence and proactive ownership.
You can choose to work in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or Sheffield, with flexible hybrid working options.
The salary for this role is £37,497, with a civil service pension contribution of 28.9%. Benefits include 24 days of leave (rising to 26), flexible working, professional development, and various other perks.
