Join us as an External Communications Manager (AVP) at Barclays to help communicate the bank’s strategy and objectives effectively to relevant external stakeholders.
This is a permanent role supporting the development and execution of external communications strategies related to Barclays' services for UK businesses, covering Barclays UK products and services.
The successful candidate will promote, protect, and defend the Bank's reputation and manage external communications activities across various topics.
The Ideal Candidate Must Have
* Experience in media relations, either in agency or in-house, within a fast-paced news environment
* Ability to manage press office queries swiftly, navigate stakeholder relationships, and apply strategic thinking for optimal reputational outcomes
* Strong relationships with journalists and experience across traditional and digital media in consumer, business, finance, and trade sectors
* Experience in delivering strategic news flow and creative storytelling
* Proficiency in creating content for digital channels
* Experience handling sensitive issues
* Excellent communication skills
* Outstanding interpersonal and stakeholder management skills with a team-oriented approach
Other Highly Desired Criteria
* Knowledge and experience in financial services is highly preferred
* Ability to work effectively in a dynamic matrix environment, maintaining resilience and perspective

* Deliver and execute the external communications strategy, ensuring messages reach stakeholders across multiple channels
* Develop strategic campaigns and content that clearly communicate Barclays' values, goals, and objectives
* Maintain relationships with media outlets and industry groups to accurately represent the bank’s strategy and reputation
* Manage reputational risks and advise on risk mitigation, including handling negative news and crises
