You will join a dedicated and close-knit team with a passion for patient centred care, providing the Channel Islands with an Emergency Retrieval Service. There will be an element of on call working, for the unlikely event a mission needs to be supported out of hours. Proximity to base ( This is an exciting opportunity that will involve supporting the aeromedical retrieval team with their transfers between the Channel Islands and mainland Tertiary Centres by means of ambulance provision, but also by supporting the overall operation of our medical department. We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, and experienced ECA that can work with minimal supervision. All necessary 'On the Job' Training will be provided for this position. With operations in the UK, US, Middle East and Hong Kong a career with us can offer travel, personal growth opportunities and the ability for long-term progression in a fast paced and dynamic service industry. / Responsibilities: To drive our ambulance, and other Gama Aviation owned vehicles should this be required, under normal and emergency (blue light) circumstance, in accordance with road traffic laws, taking particular care of the vehicles, its occupants and other road users To carry out general vehicle checks at the start of, and during each shift, to ensure readiness of the vehicle To report and log all defects, deficiencies and accident damage to the ground ambulance To take responsibility for ensuring the maintenance, upkeep, cleanliness, and stock take of the ground ambulance To support maintenance, care, and cleanliness of any equipment (including oxygen cylinders) and working environments To maintain competent working knowledge of all medical and life support equipment carried on the vehicle and aircraft, appropriate to the required skill level and scope of practice Providing support to the qualified medical practitioner in the delivery of high-quality care within the scope of practice, including moving and handling of patients and equipment To ensure that all procedures used within the scope of practice are consistent with and promote good infection control To complete appropriate and clear documentation where required To ensure good communication and working relationships with the whole team, including the operations department, ground handling agents, and the out of hours support team To promote continuous high standard of care, ensuring everybody is treated with dignity and respect To provide overall support to the Clinical Coordinators and/or the Clinical Services Manager To support the clinical team with active cases To support with internal auditing, stock checks and ordering systems To support the medical department in ensuring correct waste disposal procedures are adhered to To support the medical department in the facilitation of laundry, decontamination and/or sterilisation of all items that are reusable To support the team in ensuring all items of equipment are safely returned and refurbished after each mission and that the ambulance is ready for dispatch To support the medical department in procurement of all necessary medical hardware and disposables for the efficient and safe operation of the air ambulance To operate a priority "tagging" system so that urgent actions are not overlooked Where clinically appropriate and required, there may be the possibility to support on an active mission on the aircraft / Skills, Qualifications and Experience required: Essential Possess a minimum of 3 years' experience as an Emergency Care Assistant, FREC 4 The ability and qualification (recognised) to drive under blue light conditions Clean, full UK manual driving licence Understanding of vehicle and road safety issues Excellent knowledge of the Highway Code Ability to provide basic life support Experience in dealing with a range of age and social groups A good team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations Confident and assertive while remaining approachable Ability to show respect and maintain dignity and confidentiality at all times Excellent attention to detail A methodical approach to tasks Desire to succeed in a busy, challenging and exciting environment Ability to maintain a professional attitude and public image at all times Ability to have a flexible approach to working hours and job demand Fitness to carry out moving and handling of patients and equipment Advantageous Advanced driving qualification C1 category on driving licence Institute of Healthcare and Development (IHCD) First Person on Scene Certificate and/or HSE First Air at Work Certificate / In addition to a Competitive Salary, we will offer you: Competitive Group Pension Scheme Comprehensive Life Assurance Comprehensive Income Protection Comprehensive Travel Insurance Comprehensive Private Healthcare (after successful passing of probation) Free Car Parking 2 Paid Volunteering Days each calendar year (subject to line manager approval) Investment in Training, Qualifications and Professional Development (Subject to insurance underwriting) Due to the volume of applications received, only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
