Payroll Officer – Band 4 – 34 hours – Secondment/Fixed term until 31/10/2026

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Payroll Officer to join our expanding department. This role will be working as part of a team to ensure the accurate and timely processing of the payroll for Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which fully complies with the Trust's statutory regulations, and meets all pay deadlines.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve the processing of weekly and monthly payroll, creating regular data quality reports and monthly checks of ongoing contractual processes such as maternity leaves and fixed term contracts.
We operate a hybrid working model in the department with a mix of working from home and working in the office, with a predominantly virtual management model; this has allowed for greater flexibility and work-life balance.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good general level of education - GSCEs or equivalent (Maths and English)
Experience
* Experience of working as a Payroll Officer or equivalent
* Working knowledge of PAYE legislation, National Insurance, Statutory Maternity/Paternity Pay and Statutory Sick Pay
* Experience of using standard payroll software
* Working knowledge of pension legislation
* Experience of using spreadsheets (MS Excel) to process data loads
* Experience of using ESR pay system
* Working knowledge of the NHS pension scheme
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
