VANRATH are recruiting an Estimator to work on various Construction projects for a leading Main Contractor based in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland.

Our client is a leading, innovative Main Contractor that have been operating for over 35 years. They provide solutions across both Private and Public sectors with a project portfolio across various sectors including housing, education, healthcare and more.
The business operates across the UK with their headquarters based in Northern Ireland and regional offices in England and Scotland. They deliver award winning solutions to complex construction and engineering challenges and win a lot of repeat business due to their success.
They have an excellent opportunity for an Estimator to join them on a permanent basis, based in their offices in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland.
Responsibilities include:
5. Sourcing / identification / engagement of suitable Supply Chain (Subcontractors & Suppliers) for specific tendered projects
6. Formatting / Input Bills of Quantities to department software programme
7. Resourcing of Bills of Quantities to enable development of works packages / first principles pricing/materials
8. Issue Supply Chain Tender Pricing Enquiries for Work Packages
9. Follow up of enquiries and requests for quotes
10. Work Package/Materials Quotation Comparisons and Validation
11. BOQ Measurement & Take-Off of works in order develop Cost Estimates to NRM
12. Preparation of Bills of Quantities NRM
13. Preparation of Cost Plans NRM
14. Development of tender RFI schedules
15. Collate design fee schedules in collaboration with design manager
16. Develop tender preliminaries costs
17. Project risk analysis / assessment
18. Updating supply chain enquiries for document revisions & clarifications issued during tender process
19. Use of departmental software system for above activities
20. Reporting to Senior Management
21. To arrange handover meetings and formally hand-over new contracts
22. Input to and develop contractor proposals for tender bids
23. Database management
24. Addressing post tender queries
The Ideal Person:
25. Degree or HND Qualified
26. Extensive experience working as an Estimator
27. Main Contractor background
28. Strong IT skills and conversant with standard software packages
29. Excellent organisational skills and a methodical approach
30. Great commercial skills and awareness
31. Good people management and communication skills
32. Promotes a professional image with external parties
33. Self-motivated and a team player
34. Ability to work on own initiative
35. Knowledge and understanding of construction frameworks
36. Basic understanding of building technology and construction techniques
