Overview
An opportunity has emerged for a motivated and appropriately skilled Health Care Assistant / Support, Time & Recovery Worker (STR Worker) to join the award winning Dementia Crisis Support team. The team covers a large geographical area – Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock. We support service users and their carers in their own homes and also in residential and nursing care homes. The team’s aim is to support people in their usual place of residence and to avoid a hospital admission. We are looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible and resourceful individual who is committed to providing support and assistance to service users and their carers who live with Dementia.
You will need experience of working with adults living with dementia and an interest in working with service users in a community setting. Due to the community based nature of this role, you will need to have a valid UK Driving Licence and access to a car. The successful candidate will need to be flexible and passionate about providing good quality Dementia care. The candidate will need to effectively travel across a wide geographical patch, and public transport is limited. Responsibilities
* The team provides assessment, advice and treatment and acts as a signposting service to other teams and organisations as appropriate. Dementia Crisis Support Team offers individual interventions for service users and their carers aimed towards preventing a hospital admission and supporting recovery from crisis.
Qualifications
* Be able to evidence a good General Education to GCSE or equivalent.
* Have relevant experience in working with people who live with Dementia where a degree of autonomous working has been required.
* Demonstrate a knowledge of and understanding of the need to use an enabling approach.
* Be able to demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, have good time management skills and be able to prioritise workload effectively.
* Be able to demonstrate well developed interpersonal skills, especially when handling conflict and change, and have the appropriate skills to facilitate the resolution of difficulties.
* Show willingness to work unsocial hours when necessary and be able to provide high levels of emotional and practical support to service users and carers. The services operational hours are Monday to Friday 9am–7pm and weekends and bank holidays 9am–5pm. These shifts will be on a rota basis.
* The post can be emotionally demanding and the applicant will be expected to address and explore this within supervision, team meetings and informal work-related support systems.

* Other notes: High Cost Area Supplement – 5% of basic salary (minimum £1,303 and maximum £2,198 per annum, pro rata for part time). When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS is not included for non-registered roles to ensure fairness and consistency across sites.
