Advisory Assistant – Make a Real Difference Every Day

As an Advisory Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting young learners to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Working alongside experienced advisors, you’ll help create a safe, structured and engaging environment where learners can thrive, build confidence, and take positive steps forward in their education journey.
Role Details
* Salary: Term‑time working with salary paid at £21,193
* Location: On‑site, Doncaster (DN12 4EE)
* Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm
* Annual Leave: Up to 13 weeks off per year aligned with school holidays
* Contract: We have two vacancies, KS2 on a 12‑month FTC and KS3 Permanent.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Preparing advisory spaces each morning, ensuring resources, materials and environments are ready for learning
* Supporting advisors during sessions to maintain positive behaviours and engagement
* Building strong relationships with learners to proactively manage behaviour and encourage participation
* Assisting learners on a 1:1 or small group basis to support learning and development
* Setting up and maintaining learner resources such as boxes, Chromebooks and materials
* Encouraging learners to take pride in their environment, including tidying, organising and respecting shared spaces
* Supporting the delivery of advisory sessions and occasionally leading activities
* Supervising learners during break times, including planning and facilitating activities
* Supporting conflict resolution and promoting positive communication strategies
* Maintaining classroom displays and ensuring materials and stock levels are managed effectively
* Carrying out start and end of day routines, including setting up, closing down and ensuring safety and cleanliness
* Assisting with learner arrivals and departures, including taxi duties
* Supporting administrative tasks such as printing, laminating and preparing materials
* Working collaboratively with advisors to prepare resources and support learner progress
What You’ll Bring

* Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners
* Confidence in managing behaviour in a calm, proactive and supportive way
* A team‑focused approach, with the ability to take direction and work collaboratively
* Organisation skills and attention to detail in preparing resources and maintaining environments
* Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the needs of learners throughout the day
* A proactive attitude, with the initiative to step in and support where needed
* Basic IT skills (e.g. using laptops/Chromebooks and handling simple admin tasks)
* An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining a safe environment (or willingness to learn)
