The Governors and Headteacher are seeking to appoint a motivated, resilient, enthusiastic and inspiring primary teacher for the Severn Primary School Special Resource Base.
Severn Primary School is a happy, vibrant, and culturally diverse inner-city school with a two-form entry, large nursery and wrap around care provision. It is situated in the Canton area of Cardiff about a mile from the centre of the city.
Severn’s SRB supports children from the local area with complex needs, including social communication difficulties. Severn’s SRB consists of two classes each with 10 children, three teaching assistants and a teacher when fully operational. The successful postholder will work in the SRB in our main building. We want our SRB provision to be at the centre of school life in Severn so all the children and staff can work together in achieving our school mission of ‘together we learn, together we grow.’
The children will receive a specially designed curriculum which places the child at the centre of the learning and ensures they are valued, supported and nurtured to achieve the best possible outcomes. The successful post holder will be responsible for a class. The post would suit a teacher with experience of working with pupils with additional learning needs in either a mainstream primary or specialist setting. A commitment to play/sensory based and experiential learning both indoors and outdoors is essential.
The role requires someone with empathy, patience and who understands the importance of effective communication and engagement with families. The successful candidate will need to be a team player and work confidently with professionals from Severn and a range of other external services and to build strong relationships with these partners in order to support children.
We are looking for a commitment to the inclusion of every child and ensuring that all pupils have equal opportunities to access a broad and balanced curriculum.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the right knowledge and experience to join a friendly, caring and dedicated team.
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
