Join our team as a Heavy Maintenance Fitter and play a vital role in keeping KAM tram assets safe, reliable and ready for service.
As part of a newly established Heavy Maintenance function, you will work closely with the Heavy Maintenance Manager and the Tram Maintenance Team to deliver planned and corrective maintenance activities in line with required safety, quality and performance standards.

Key accountabilities will include:
* Contribute to the delivery of a high-performing Heavy Maintenance team by meeting agreed objectives, standards, and key performance indicators.
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and professional working environment by demonstrating zero-harm principles, just culture behaviours, and a zero-tolerance approach to conduct that conflicts with the FREDIE culture.
* Take personal responsibility for health, safety, and wellbeing, actively participating in safety briefings, workshops, and risk assessment activities, including the annual identification and management of operational risks.
* Carry out heavy maintenance activities on tram fleet and associated assets in line with approved maintenance instructions, procedures, and relevant regulations.
* Support fault-finding, corrective maintenance, and quality assurance activities on newly overhauled equipment in collaboration with Heavy Maintenance Technicians.
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of asset management and maintenance records within the asset management database.
* Provide prompt, constructive feedback on defects, failures, and improvement opportunities identified during maintenance activities.
* Engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including TfGM, Original Equipment Manufacturers, and suppliers, to support maintenance delivery and continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring:
* Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline, or completion of an advanced modern apprenticeship, with equivalent practical experience considered.
* Demonstrable experience working in a large, safety-critical maintenance environment, delivering planned and corrective maintenance activities within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Hands-on maintenance capability with a proven track record in a relevant engineering discipline, working to defined plans, procedures and quality standards.
* Sound understanding of technical maintenance documentation, including the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and specifications.
* High level of attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed safely and right first time.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to meet maintenance capacity and performance targets.
* Confident IT skills, including the use of standard Microsoft Office applications and maintenance or asset management systems.
* Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work rotating shifts in line with agreed working patterns.
