Senior Category Manager, Logistics Procurement – Global Road, Rail and Intermodal

Role Overview
The Senior Category Manager for Global Road, Rail and Intermodal Freight Procurement will lead the overall enterprise category strategy for road, rail, and intermodal transportation across the Haleon supply chain. They will manage sourcing activities for International Road Freight (Leg B) and associated services, delivering business outcomes against £150 million global spend.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
* Develop and execute global category strategy for Road, Rail and Intermodal Freight.
* Conduct regional tenders, mini‑bid and spot‑market sourcing in key regions (EMEA, NAM, APAC, LATAM).
* Shape inbound and outbound freight strategy, working with Site/CMO and customer teams.
* Provide SME input to International Freight Operating Model and network strategy initiatives.
* Deliver annual net‑savings targets and maintain a pipeline of opportunities.
* Lead rate benchmarking, market intelligence, and contract negotiations.
* Own fuel‑mechanism and contract standards, track fuel price evolution and spend.
* Support annual business planning with category input on inflation, maintenance and savings reporting.
* Ensure rate‑management compliance and contract lifecycle management.
* Collaborate with a cross‑functional team of five logistics procurement colleagues.
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or Finance (Master’s preferred).
* Extensive logistics category experience; expert in global sourcing or 3PL/4PL operations.
* Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders and translate business needs into strategy.
* Strong commercial acumen and a track record of successful sourcing transformations.
* Demonstrated multi‑year savings or continuous improvement achievements.
* Negotiation and influencing skills at executive level.
* Deep understanding of logistics environments, supplier relationship models and network design.
* Project and change‑management experience; ability to lead end‑to‑end service operations.
* Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
* Independence in matrixed and ambiguous environments.
