About the Role

The Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Team within the Autism Outreach Team has an exciting and interesting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Lead ABA Consultant to join the Team.

The ABA Team within the Autism Outreach Team, is a well-regarded and welcoming team which consists of a ABA Lead Consultant, ABA Assistant Consultant and ABA Lead Tutor with a wealth of knowledge and experience and a passion for inclusion. We work with mainstream and specialist education settings across Leicestershire and the surrounding counties to support positive outcomes for autistic pupils.

We are committed to using neuro-affirming approaches, understanding autism as difference rather than deficit and as part of Specialist Teaching Service, we aim to improve opportunities, outcomes and experiences for children and young people with SEND in partnership with families, educational settings and organisations.

This is a management role which includes professional supervision of staff, providing effective performance management, leading on the ongoing review and development of service delivery, working in partnership with schools and other agencies and coordinating resources to meet increasing demands.

You will have your own caseload responsibility while supporting and managing ABA staff with their caseloads, so will be experienced, confident and knowledgeable about ABA theory, programmes and practice, alongside Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approaches. You will lead on providing support for educational settings through modelling of good practice, sharing knowledge and approaches and delivering training presentations across a range of service areas. The role involves maintaining thorough records of work undertaken and you will engage with ongoing professional development to identify, develop and deliver resources that promote curriculum access for autistic learners.

About You

Please refer to the 7 point criteria giving examples of how you meet the criteria below

1. MSc in ABA and a certified UK behaviour analyst (UKBA) or higher qualification in ABA with substantial experience of working directly with pupils with a diagnosis of Autism or communication and interaction needs as an ABA Consultant, including demonstratable experience, skills and knowledge of ABA and PBS teaching approaches and of resources to support the attainment and inclusion of autistic pupils
2. Leadership experience in monitoring, evaluating, reviewing, and developing team performance, including experience of leading professional supervision and managing the appointment, professional development and deployment of staff.
3. Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver training and feedback to members of staff and establish effective working relationships with colleagues, educational settings and partner agencies
4. Ability to manage a caseload effectively, prioritise work and demonstrate effective time management, using own initiative to write reports, plan training and feedback activities and work in an organised manner
5. Significant experience of working appropriately in accordance with relevant statutory and local policies and procedures for SEND and the ability to carry out all duties in line with LCC Safeguarding policies and procedures and fulfil relevant safeguarding competencies
6. Ability to actively demonstrate the values of the authority: Positivity; Trust and respect; Flexibility; Openness and Transparency
7. Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010. This will include requirements to work flexibly around holiday periods in line with the service requirements and access to a vehicle with the ability to travel to temporary bases such as schools, touch-down bases etc
