Detailed job description and main responsibilities You should have experience of working as a dietitian, have excellent communication skills, self-motivation, have a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and buys workload within a supportive team. Nutritional support skills are essential and additional training and support will be provided. Please refer to the job description and personal specification attached. Person specification Qualifications Essential criteria Qualified Dietitian (4 year degree, post-graduate diploma or equivalent). HCPC registered Evidence of continuing professional development. Desirable criteria Relevant validated course. Member of BDA including specialist group. Experience Essential criteria Experience as a dietitian in nutritional support Able to apply additional depth of knowledge gained through experience to specialist area Desirable criteria Experience of working in relevant specialist area/s. Analytical and judgement Essential criteria Able to interpret complex information to make decisions Communication Essential criteria Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating and training. Able to work as an integral member of dietetic and multi-professional teams, building relationships with patients/carers, and other staff. Able to handle sensitive and confidential information and respond to people who are distressed or anxious. Able to overcome difficulties in communication, including language barriers, and adapt approach to varying situations. Planning and organisation skills Essential criteria Able to plan and organise own workload, including daily tasks and longer term strategic planning, despite interruptions and changing priorities. Able to plan and organise the work of allocated student dietitians. Physical skills Essential criteria Able to carry out anthropometric measurements accurately and use relevant equipment.
