Senior Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist
Job summary: 0.5 WTE Senior Clinical Psychologist/Psychological Therapist for Longview Ward (the female acute ward) at Hopewood Park. The post will be part of the wider MDT working with service users on Longview Ward. We are seeking enthusiastic Clinical Psychologists or Psychological Therapists to provide specialist psychological input on our wards. Experience in inpatient settings is desirable but not essential.
Overview of service: Three acute adult inpatient wards at Hopewood Park (two male, one female). Each has a 0.5 WTE (18.75 hours) Psychologist, supported by a 0.5 WTE Higher Assistant Psychologist. There is an 8c Consultant Psychologist post across all three wards. Adult Mental Health Inpatient Services provide MDT care using a biopsychosocial model for service users over 18. The acute service cares for highly complex service users with neurodiversity, psychosis, personality difficulties, learning difficulties, risk to self and others, forensic issues and behaviours that challenge.
Responsibilities
The post involves providing expertise in applying specialist psychological assessment, including cognitive assessments, collaborative formulation and interventions with service users; working with multi-disciplinary teams to embed formulation and trauma-informed care. This includes individual and group work and involvement of families and carers. It will involve supporting multidisciplinary staff working with service users through supervision, team formulation, contributing to understanding complex risk, developing behaviour support plans and providing reflective practice sessions and training to the teams. The role may also involve research, service evaluation and audit. You will be supported to develop your skills in these areas and in addition all of the wards have Higher Assistant Psychologist time and this provides opportunities for the development of skills in supervision.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
* Essential: Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as HCPC and British Psychological Society accredited; HCPC registered practitioner psychologist; An Honours Degree in Psychology recognized for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, or RMN, or equivalent; Post-graduate qualifications in psychological assessment and psychological therapy (e.g. Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, Postgraduate diploma in CBT, IAPT High Intensity CBT diploma); HCPC registered practitioner psychologist or equivalent; or Member of appropriate professional body.
Desirable
* Pre-qualification training in research methodology, staff training or other applied psychology fields; Additional qualification in at least one evidence-based therapeutic model.
Knowledge and Experience
* Essential: Knowledge of specialist psychological therapies for difficult groups; strong communication skills; doctoral-level knowledge of research methodology and data analysis; continuing professional development; formal training in clinical supervision; substantial post-qualification experience; experience supervising; experience on inpatient settings; minimum 50 hours supervision over 18 months or as agreed; experience providing clinical supervision.
* Desirable: Knowledge of legislation related to client group and mental health.
Skills and Competencies
* Essential: Managing emotional impact; specialist skills in evidence-based psychological interventions; complex assessment/intervention/management methods; providing clinical supervision and consultation.
