Senior Physiotherapist (Band 7 Equivalent)
Location: Hitchin
Hours: 30 hours taken over 4 days between Monday to Friday.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and self‑motivated specialist physiotherapist with neurological experience to join our team at Stagenhoe in Hitchin. The role offers leadership responsibilities and integration into a multidisciplinary team providing comprehensive rehabilitation and support to residents.
About Stagenhoe / Brainkind
Stagenhoe is a Brainkind specialist neurological care centre based in Hertfordshire, caring for people aged 18 and over with a range of neurological conditions. The clinical team consists of nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists supported by healthcare assistants and therapy assistants. Brainkind is a charity that aims to improve the lives of people with brain injuries across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
* Day‑to‑day management and leadership of staff within the service, providing support as required.
* On‑site leadership for the team and active participation in service development through service‑user participation strategies, peer review, audit and evaluation of outcome measures.
* Oversee service delivery from referral to discharge, ensuring treatment programmes are planned and delivered effectively.
* Maintain awareness of the team’s caseloads to provide the most effective and efficient service.
* Lead clinical governance activity, including risk management and implementation of policies, standards and guidelines.
* Ensure high standard of service delivery within local and national guidelines and available resources; ensure documentation meets professional and Brainkind standards.
* Chair interdisciplinary team meetings and review meetings as appropriate.
* Work with other professionals to manage operational issues of services that cross organisational boundaries.
* Hold responsibility for managing own caseload within an agreed clinical area.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy interventions to meet assessed needs of service users.
* Monitor attendance of mandatory and required training for team members.
* Improve own and others’ research and development skills through audit projects.
* Facilitate safe and smooth running of the service, maintain a safe working environment, uphold service‑user confidentiality, and undertake additional tasks as reasonable.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree or diploma in physiotherapy and HCPC registration.
* Post‑registration training and experience in a health/social care setting, including leadership experience.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Proven experience working across healthcare settings in an appropriate service.
* Experience working with clients with moderate to advanced neurological disease and disability.
* Evidence‑based practice, research, audit and outcome measures.
* Highly specialist knowledge and application of neurological therapy assessments and interventions; complex level clinical reasoning.
* Seating and postural care experience desirable; respiratory competency essential.
* Experience managing a team of staff, including setting objectives, appraisal, recruitment and disciplinary issues.
