Overview
NHS Borders School Nursing Team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist School Nurse to join our dedicated team on a fixed-term basis. This position presents an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to contribute to the delivery of high-quality care and support to school-aged children within the Scottish Borders.
As from 1 April 2026 the Agenda for Change full-time working week reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.

Working in collaboration with Allied Health Professionals (AHPs), the Paediatrics Department, Education colleagues, Social Work teams, CAMHS, and third-sector organisations, we strive to enhance the health and wellbeing of children, young people, and their families.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care for school-aged children.
* Work within a multi-disciplinary framework to support the health and wellbeing of young people.
* Establish and maintain effective partnerships with families, professionals, and partner agencies.
* Demonstrate excellent time management, organisational, and prioritisation skills.
* Act upon advice and guidance provided by senior colleagues.
Essential Requirements
* A comprehensive understanding of the School Nurse Pathway in Scotland
* Knowledge of the Scottish National Practice Model
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork capabilities
* Experience in working with children, young people, and families
* A background in collaborative, multi-professional environments
