Role: FLOOD RISK CONSULTANT
Salary: £29,000 - £39,000 (DOE) per annum

As a Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant, your skills are needed to help grow a successful Flood Risk Consultancy by undertaking Drainage Strategies. Additional assistance is required to deliver the high number of Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Consequence Assessments and bespoke flood risk projects currently commissioned. Based in Taunton, you will be working on a diverse range of flood risk projects from planning applications to property purchases through a wide range of public and private sector clients. The appointed Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant will see projects through from conception to delivery.
The ideal candidate will have exposure to drainage software including MicroDrainage and where possible AutoCAD software, although this is not essential, and in-house training will be provided. Your responsibility will be for the preparation of drainage strategies, flood risk assessments, due diligence advice and assisting other team members on bespoke project work.
As a supplier of flood risk management services in the UK, you will integrate with forward-thinking and highly skilled individuals and have the responsibility of leading and shaping solutions for clients.
The role will require you to:
* Liaise directly with potential clients and provide a comprehensive quotation service and sales lead generation;
* Undertake Flood Risk Assessments, Flood Risk Consultancy, and Surface Water Drainage Strategies;
* Take a proactive approach to managing client relationships, clarifying the requirements under national planning policy and deliverables to achieve this;
* Active time management to successfully deliver projects on time and within budget;
* As and when required liaise and appoint other 3rd parties in the project process such as Local Planning Authorities, Environment Agency and subcontractors. This may require attending meetings off-site;
* Support Senior Management in building a successful brand and business to become a leading niche flood risk consultancy.
Capabilities and Qualifications:
Essential
* A degree in an applicable field;
* Good understanding of the importance of commercial awareness;
* Technically competent in IT and various GIS packages;
* Excellent report-writing and communication skills;
* Confident and presentable, with presentation experience;
* Knowledge of the mechanisms of flooding and appropriate mitigation techniques;
* Client management and customer service experience;
* A flexible and dynamic mindset to respond to changing market requirements.
Desirable
* Knowledge of NPPF and Tan15 planning policy;
* Working knowledge of SuDS concepts, design, legislation and planning guidance;
* Membership of CIWEM or ICE, or be working towards membership;
* Experience with AutoCAD, QGIS and Causeway software.
