Description Full‑time | Includes Tool of Trade Vehicle | Field‑Based Role Help deliver the smart city technology that keeps communities moving! We’re expanding our Operations team and are looking for a hands‑on Hardware Technician based in Byron Bay, New South Wales. This role is ideal for someone who loves being in the field, solving technical problems, and working directly with customers to keep critical hardware running smoothly. As part of your package, you’ll also receive a company vehicle (tool of trade) for travel to customer sites. About the Role As a Hardware Technician, you’ll play a key part in supporting Orikan’s full suite of smart hardware technologies—including parking meters, cash machines, in‑ground sensors and fixed camera systems. You will provide installation, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair services while representing Orikan professionally at customer locations. You’ll work both independently and as part of a supportive team to ensure hardware is installed, maintained, and serviced to a high standard, meeting our quality, safety and service level expectations. What You’ll Be Doing Field Support & Troubleshooting Deliver first‑ and second‑line technical support on site Investigate, diagnose, and resolve hardware faults Update service tickets with accurate, timely information Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions Installations Install parking meters, cash machines, sensors, and camera systems Configure and test equipment before handover Work with engineers and technicians to ensure proper setup Maintenance Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance Replace or repair faulty components Apply firmware/software updates Keep detailed maintenance and service logs Customer Support Attend service calls promptly and provide on‑site assistance Educate customers on hardware operation and care Maintain professional and courteous customer interactions Inventory & Assets Manage spare parts and consumables Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment Compliance & Safety Follow all Orikan safety procedures and industry standards Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly Other Duties Support production teams when required Participate in on‑call and shift rotations Domestic/international travel may be required Skills And Experiences What You’ll Bring Proven experience in hardware installation, maintenance, and fault resolution Low‑voltage electrical knowledge (12–24V systems) Ability to use multimeters for voltage/continuity testing Basic networking (IP configuration, cabling, routers) Experience with hardware diagnostics & PCB/power supply repairs Ability to update firmware/software Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Excellent customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently and within a team Experience with power tools, cabling, conduit work and manual handling Trade certifications or technical training (preferred) Experience with parking systems or related technologies (advantageous) Work Environment Field‑based role across Byron Bay and surrounding regions Indoor and outdoor work, sometimes in varying weather conditions On‑call rotation for after‑hours support Occasional travel within Australia or New Zealand Why Join Orikan?
