Location: Site-based, Bridgwater, Somerset - Mon-Fri
Status: CONTRACT - Inside IR35
Duration: Approved until 31dec26 (renewable)
Reports to: Construction Superintendent
Morson Edge are working with a major player in the Energy sector who have a current (contract) requirement for a Field Engineer - Welding Inspector. The successful candidate will join an established site-based team on a nationally significant infrastructure Project in Somerset.
Scope
The Field Engineer will perform Surveillance to give confidence that the activities are performed in accordance with the Contractor's Work Information.
He / She will form part of a team with the primary responsibility of ensuring delivery of the Quality needs, targets and upholding contract related expectations.
Typical Accountabilities (not limited to):
Check the Works are constructed in accordance with the Contractor's Work Information and escalate any deviation and non-conformance request requirements submitting details of any NCR requirements to assist in the issuing of non-conformance reports.
Proactively communicate with other stakeholders of the considered scope of work, maintain good communication links and ensure surveillance is accurately and timely reported.
Contribute surveillance information to support KPI indicators.
Endeavour to identify potential Quality issues before they arrive to enable mitigating actions
Support team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within Quality standards. Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action (e.g. issue communications, call meetings) to prevent the halt of works
Enhance the team with a good perspective of current and future site activities.
Develop and maintain an understanding of contractual Technical Requirements, construction drawings, construction activities, Quality Control Plans and Quality Inspection Records
Ensure and monitor that Quality Inspection Records are taken and agreed
Ideal Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
A Mechanical Engineering, Materials or Welding qualification or equivalent vocational training and significant experience.
Welding Inspector qualification - CSWIP 3.1 - as well as a basic 'appreciation of NDT' qualification is highly desirable
Experience gained from working across a major Project(s) within regulated environment - highly desirable
Broad knowledge and wide understanding of the Construction industry, materials, trades methods and legal requirements
Working knowledge of relevant British/European standards construction and design codes/guidelines such as RCC-M, BS EN and ASME and knowledge of Quality management practices, methods and processes.
Knowledge of the fabrication/installation of pressure systems (desirable)
Proven experience of writing diaries which are accurate, concise and with relevance to the particular form of contract.
Knowledge of the documentation used in safety critical construction and fabrication environs: Inspection and Test Plans, End of Erection Status Reports etc.
Good attention to detail when checking work, equipment and materials
