Summary
The Universal Ingredients Senior Product Development Scientist is a full-time position on site at Universal Ingredient Application Lab based in Lancaster, PA. This role is focused on developing creative and innovative prototypes leading to gains in market segments primarily focused on Beverage Applications with an emphasis on Tea, Coffee, Botanicals extracts and fruited beverage systems, ranging from B2B ingredients to finished product prototypes.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
* Complete rapid prototyping and iterative solution development of new products that meet project briefs and timelines, with a focus on emulsion systems for beverage applications.
* Collaborate with key stakeholders in the Commercial and Operations teams to transform concepts from benchtop and pilot plant samples and trial runs and through to full-scale commercial production.
* Develop, validate and implement new products and processes through the technical transfer and commercialization processes.
* Support continuous improvement efforts across existing product lines as it relates to emulsion chemistry.
* Work collaboratively with many cross-functional partners including Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Commercial and Marketing teams.
* Travel to technical facilities and co-packers to support commercialization trials and Company’s objectives.
Minimum Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in food science/chemistry/science technology or equivalent
* 3-7 years of experience conducting emulsion technology Product Development.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects & tasks working in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent organizational and communication (written and oral) skills.
* Excellent project management skills with ability to prioritize multiple activities simultaneously with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Must be self-motivated, have a positive attitude, detail-oriented, and work well in a team environment.
* Must be able to adapt to constant change in a positive manner
* Excellent knowledge of food industry practices and procedures (GMP’s, HACCP, CFR compliance)
* Willing to travel as required
* Computer skills and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other software/applications.
