Location:Rockshaw Road, Chaldon, SurreyContract: Full-time, PermanentSalary: £, - £, per year (M1 - UPS1 Fringe) *Hours: hours per week - Start time 8.am - Finish time Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 4.pm. Tuesday 5pm and Friday 4pm

As part of our growth strategy, The Aurora Group are really pleased to be opening a brand new SEND Secondary School in September 5 in Chaldon, Surreyfor young people aged - who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All our students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team we are able to give students “every opportunity to achieve”

We are looking to recruit a Teacher to join our team at Chaldon School. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the start of their journey. You will be based at Aurora Chaldon school with a requirement to work out of our satellite site Caterham when required.

The main purpose of the role:

The purpose of the Teacher is to deliver high quality teaching and learning for children and young people with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties and may present with some challenging behaviours.

Key duties:

1. To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
2. To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
3. To maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
4. To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
5. To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.
6. To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
7. To contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
8. To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
9. To maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism in order to be able to plan for effective teaching and learning.
10. To work in a non-confrontational way to ensure individual needs are met.
11. To appropriately manage challenging behaviours within the school policy and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

Successful candidate qualities:

12. PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
13. Ability to teach History and Geography up to and including GCSE level
14. Working knowledge of students with complex needs and SEND.
15. Evidence of sound knowledge of the national curriculum.
16. Knowledge, understanding and experience of autism and associated co-morbid conditions and how these can affect learning.
17. Curriculum development and implementation for pupils with SEND

27. provide evidence that you are already receiving an Upper Pay Scale salary.
