JOB TITLE: Teacher - Post-Primary
REPORTS TO: Principal
Professional Duties of a Teacher
Regulations

1. Exercise of general professional duties
2. A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out professional duties as circumstances require, under the reasonable direction of the principal or, if employed by a board without a specific school assignment, under the board and principal's direction.
3. Exercise of particular duties
4. A teacher shall perform duties reasonably assigned by the principal or, if applicable, by the board or other designated authority.
Specific Responsibilities
1. Planning
2. Designing and preparing courses and lessons;
3. Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work;
4. Assessing and reporting on pupils' development, progress, and attainment.

2. Promoting pupils' progress and well-being;
3. Providing advice on educational, social, and career matters;
4. Making records and reports on pupils' personal and social needs;
5. Communicating with parents and external bodies;
6. Participating in relevant meetings.

2. Contributing to assessments, reports, and references, while maintaining professional integrity.
1. Staff Development
2. Participating in staff development schemes and reviewing teaching methods;
3. Engaging in further training and professional development;
4. Advising on curriculum development and teaching materials.

2. Maintaining order and safeguarding health and safety;
3. Participating in curriculum and organizational meetings.
1. Public Examinations
2. Preparing pupils for exams and participating in assessment and supervision during exams.
1. Management Activities/Administration
2. Contributing to staff appointment and development, managing work of other teachers, and participating in curriculum and pastoral activities;
3. Handling administrative tasks including support staff management, equipment, and materials ordering;
1. Work Schedule
2. Availability for 195 days/year, with specific hours and duties as specified;
3. Supervision and cover duties as outlined, with provisions for breaks and specific requirements for nursery and primary schools;

Section 1 - Essential Criteria
* Qualifications: recognized teaching qualification and degree Level 6 for PE teaching.
* Experience: Minimum 1 year teaching PE, including BTEC Sport at Level 2/3, and experience with digital media in teaching.
* Registration: Must be registered with GTCNI before starting.
Section 2 - Additional Essential Criteria
* Knowledge of NI Curriculum, Safeguarding, SEND, IT systems, and assessment methods.
* Skills: Effective classroom management, inclusive teaching, collaboration, and ability to inspire pupils.
* Values: Alignment with the school’s ethos and values.
Section 3 - Desirable Criteria
* Experience: 2+ years teaching PE, including support for pupils with SEND, monitoring progress, and intervention.
