A leading private equity business is recruiting for a Junior Fund Accountant.
This role is suited to someone in the early stages of their career, typically in their second role after university, who is looking to develop specialist experience within fund accounting. The successful candidate may come from an accounting practice background and should demonstrate a clear interest in financial services and investment funds. This position offers strong exposure to the end-to-end fund accounting process and the opportunity to work closely with investment, operations, and finance teams in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation and review of periodic Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations for investment funds
* Support the maintenance of the general ledger and fund accounting records
* Process and reconcile fund transactions, including subscriptions, redemptions, and capital calls/distributions
* Perform cash, portfolio, and bank reconciliations
* Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements for funds
* Support the audit process by preparing documentation and responding to auditor queries
* Liaise with external administrators, custodians, and other service providers to ensure accurate reporting
* Maintain accurate records of portfolio activity and investment valuations
* Contribute to internal reporting and ad-hoc analysis for the finance and investment teams
* Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls within the fund accounting function
Candidate Profile
* Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
* 1–3 years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial services
* Candidates from accounting practice are welcome, particularly those with exposure to financial services clients
* Demonstrated interest in fund accounting, investment management, or asset management
* Working towards or planning to pursue a professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) is advantageous
* Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
* Solid Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
* Proactive, organised, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
