Senior Community Perinatal Mental Health Nursery Nurse

We are seeking a Nursery Nurse with excellent clinical skills and confidence to join the Lewisham Perinatal Mental Health Team at The Old Townhall, Catford, SE6 4RU. The role involves supporting families within the Royal Borough of Lewisham.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with Perinatal community standards, governance, and performance structures. They should be confident in collaborating with agencies such as Children and Family Social Services, Midwifery and Obstetric teams, CMHTs, Health Visitors, and the Voluntary sector.
You should possess strong knowledge and practical skills in managing women with mental health disorders during the perinatal period. Experience working in a diverse inner-city borough and understanding the associated challenges and opportunities are essential.
You will work closely with colleagues in PMHTs, benefiting from ongoing Perinatal workforce training within SLaM and across London.
Main duties of the job
1. Manage a small caseload of clients with complex perinatal mental health needs, utilizing specialist assessments and intervention tools.
2. Plan and deliver interventions to support mothers in caring for their babies, ensuring developmental standards are met.
3. Maintain accurate and concise records for both parents and babies, including interactions with external agencies, following Trust requirements.
4. Contribute to clinical and local authority meetings through verbal and written communication.
5. Communicate professionally with parents, colleagues, and external agencies involved in safeguarding.
6. Participate in training programs, community meetings, clinical supervision, and staff support groups.
7. Adhere to Trust Infection Prevention and Control procedures regarding babies and equipment.
About us
The Lewisham Perinatal service offers a Monday to Friday, 9-5 assessment, intervention, and treatment service for women with moderate to severe mental health disorders during the perinatal period within the Borough.
Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Qualifications
* National Nursery Education Board qualification or equivalent (e.g., BTEC National Diploma in Nursery Nursing, NVQ Level 3 in Child Care and Education, or Foundation Degree in Early Years with management experience).
Experience
* Understanding of the Statutory Framework for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and current child development research.
* Knowledge of legislation and policies related to children.
* Extensive post-registration experience working with mental health service users.
* Completion of all Trust Mandatory training.
Knowledge and Skills
* Understanding of mental health disorders and treatment models.
* Flexible approach to mother and baby care.
* Knowledge of risk assessment and management principles.
