Offer description

Here at Homewood we provide residential services for adults with learning disabilities. As a Care Assistant, you'll play a key role in delivering personalised physical and emotional care to the people who stay with us, ensuring their comfort, wellbeing and safety. Join our supportive team and be part of something special, where your dedication and compassion can make a big difference to the lives of others.

What you'll do:

* Support daily living: Help with daily activities including eating, drinking and personal care.
* Person‑centred care: Each of our service users is unique, with their own physical, mental, social and emotional needs. You'll focus on their strengths and tailor your approach to meet each person's unique needs.
* Promote independence: Encourage service users to make personal care choices and support their self‑care and independence.
* Engagement: Support service users in participating in meaningful activities, both within our facilities and out in the community.
* Build relationships: Establish supportive connections with service users, their families, and colleagues.

This role is offered on an annualised hours contract, meaning your total working hours are spread across the year rather than following a fixed weekly schedule. You'll play a key role in providing cover for annual leave and sickness and supporting during busy periods. You'll be contracted to work an average of 10 hours per week, depending on service needs and your availability. We'll always aim to give you as much notice as possible for your shifts, helping you balance work with your personal commitments. However, there may be occasions where short‑notice cover is needed. We're looking for someone who enjoys flexible working and being part of a supportive team that keeps our service running smoothly.

Why join us?

* Rewarding work: Make a real difference in our service users' lives, knowing that your efforts can create a lasting impact and enhance their quality of life.
* Training: We provide a full, in‑depth and supportive induction programme along with continuous training and development.
* Supportive environment: Work in an inclusive, friendly, and collaborative team who feel proud of the work they do to support people in our community.
* Professional growth: We invest in your future. With ongoing development opportunities, you'll have the chance to enhance your skills and advance your career in the care sector.
* Employee support: Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.

What we value:

* Passion and dedication: A genuine desire to help others and make a positive and lasting difference to their lives.
* Empathy and compassion: Understand and share the feelings of others to build trust and provide emotional support.
* Respect and patience: Treat service users with dignity and respect, and adapt to their individual needs.
* Communication skills: Clear and effective communication and the ability to interact with service users with a diverse range of complex communication and sensory support needs.
* Team player: Enjoy working closely with others to provide high-quality care.
* Problem‑solving skills: Handle unexpected situations calmly and effectively.

Competitive benefits package

Including generous annual leave entitlement, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
