Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified and experienced CompEx Electrician to join our team working within the water and wastewater industry. The role involves electrical installation, maintenance, testing, and inspection tasks across water treatment plants, pumping stations, and associated infrastructure, with a particular focus on hazardous areas. Key Responsibilities: Carry out electrical installation, inspection, and maintenance work in line with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671). Perform work within hazardous areas, in accordance with CompEx standards (Ex01–Ex04). Install, maintain, and inspect electrical systems on clean and wastewater sites. Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals. Ensure all work is completed to industry standards, company procedures, and safety regulations. Conduct testing and fault finding on existing systems, identifying issues and providing appropriate solutions. Maintain accurate records of work completed, test results, and materials used. Liaise with clients, site managers, and subcontractors to coordinate work and ensure timelines are met. Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures. Participate in standby rota or emergency call-outs, if required. Essential Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent. CompEx Certification (Ex01–Ex04) – must be in date. 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671). Experience working on water industry sites (e.g., Thames Water, Severn Trent, etc.). Strong understanding of ATEX requirements and hazardous area classifications. Ability to work from drawings and interpret specifications. Full UK driving licence. Desirable: ECS / JIB Gold Card. Testing and inspection qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395). Confined space entry and/or DOMS/Water Hygiene certification. Previous experience working with PLCs, telemetry, or motor control systems. Familiarity with WIMES standards. Personal Attributes: Excellent attention to detail and high standards of workmanship. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach. Effective communicator and team player. Willingness to travel to multiple sites and work outdoors in varying conditions. Safety-conscious with a good understanding of risk assessments and method statements.
