Process Engineering Industrial Placement
If you want work experience that really counts, consider a placement with Phillips 66. We are looking for a Chemical Engineering student to join us for a One Year Industrial Placement starting in summer 2026. Your time will be spent on specific projects or working alongside our experienced Chemical Engineers monitoring unit operations. You’ll be given real work to do and real responsibility as a unit engineer looking after our process unit’s day-to-day running and optimisation. You’ll gain hands-on site experience, work with multiple disciplines, and may be involved in maintenance inspections inside process vessels. This is a great opportunity to apply your theoretical skills in a business environment. If you perform well, you may be considered for a graduate position after completing your degree.

Responsibilities
* You will work on specific projects or alongside experienced Chemical Engineers monitoring unit operations.
* Act as a unit engineer responsible for the process unit’s day-to-day running and optimisation.
* Gain experience with maintenance inspections inside process vessels and collaboration across disciplines.
Qualifications
* You are a motivated and proactive engineering student who relishes a challenge and has an interest in Process Engineering in the energy sector.
* Working towards a minimum 2:1 in a Chemical Engineering degree (we will also consider recent graduates).
* Good engineering/technical knowledge.
* Previous work experience from industrial placements, internships, or related roles is valued; highlight teamwork, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
What we are looking for
* Good communication skills (written and verbal).
* Ability to apply technical knowledge to real-life challenges and develop innovative solutions.
* Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Good safety awareness.
* Self-organising to meet deadlines and deliver on projects.
* Confidence to work on your own initiative.
* Basic understanding of an oil refinery and standard chemical engineering unit operations including distillation.

Assessment days will be held at our Humber Refinery and may include an overnight stay and dinner with experienced engineers (reasonable travel expenses and overnight accommodation provided).
