Our client, a trusted partner to the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an experienced Surface Mount Machine Operator. The role involves performing machine manufacturing and self-certification tasks in line with product certification procedures, workmanship standards, budgets, and project timelines. Responsibilities include operating SMT equipment, assembling components, and ensuring quality compliance throughout production.
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Semi-Skilled PEC Operator to support machine manufacturing and self-certification tasks within a high-performance electronics environment. The role involves precision soldering, circuit card assembly, and operation of specialised equipment, all performed to strict quality, safety, and procedural standards.
* Perform hand and fine soldering of Circuit Card Assemblies to IPC 610 & 001 standards under magnification.
* Assemble surface mount and through-hole components with precision and consistency.
* Operate equipment including DEK screen print, MyCronic pick-and-place, ERSA reflow oven, and Koh Young AOI systems.
* Carry out standardised manufacturing activities in line with defined procedures and project timelines.
* Support efficient workflow and communication within the manufacturing area.
* Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards throughout all operations.
What do you need?:
Essential Skills:
* Proven experience in circuit card assembly and handling of electronic components.
* High level of manual dexterity for precision tasks and fine soldering.
* Ability to read and interpret technical layouts and assembly instructions.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently and follow procedures.
* Willingness to work flexible shift patterns to meet production demands.
* Awareness of ESD protocols and safe handling practices.
Desirable Skills:
* Proficient in basic PC operations and digital tools.
* Skilled in hand soldering to IPC 610 & 001 standards, including fine soldering under magnification.
* Experience in surface mount and through-hole component assembly.
* Familiarity with standardised manufacturing processes and quality assurance procedures.
