Sales And Business Development Manager £70,000 commission Greater London (with UK travel) Full-Time / Permanent If you're someone who knows your way around cranes, whether it’s mini crawlers or 280-ton lattice boom beasts and can build lasting relationships with major contractors, then keep reading. We’re looking for a Sales Manager to take the lead in growing the crane hire business across the UK, with a particular focus on Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors in the infrastructure and civil engineering space. The fleet is extensive, the kit is specialist, and the team behind it is experienced but what’s needed now is someone who can take it to the next level commercially. You’ll be selling access to a seriously capable fleet that demands a consultative, technical approach, so this isn’t your typical “make some calls and shift some kit” role. This is a specialist hire, so we need someone who understands the technical side, can hold their own in a client conversation, and ideally, has experience with lift planning or holds Appointed Person credentials. YOUR NEW ROLE * Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients in particularly large contractors with heavy lifting needs * Positioning the fleet to offer strategically so that we’re in the right place, at the right time, with the right kit * Keeping a close eye on market movements, identifying new sectors or projects before they land * Working closely with operations, finance, and the delivery teams to ensure that what’s promised gets delivered, without drama * Maintaining strong pipelines and clear visibility across accounts through effective CRM use and smart tracking * Acting as a trusted face in the industry—someone clients know they can rely on for solutions, not just sales chat. ABOUT YOU * Solid background in crane or plant hire (construction/civil engineering sector ideal) * A proven sales or business development track record, you're not afraid to pick up the phone, walk onto site, or present in a boardroom * Strong commercial judgment and attention to detail * Calm under pressure, socially confident, and genuinely motivated to drive growth * Experience working with large contractors or on major infrastructure projects is a big plus * Familiarity with CRM tools and Microsoft Office is expected * A relevant degree is handy but not essential, real-world experience counts for more here * Hold a valid UK driving licence and be open to UK travel as required SALARY AND BENEFITS * Salary up to £70,000 (depending on experience) plus commission * Company car or van * 31 days’ holiday (inc BH) * Strong pension scheme 4X life assurance Reference Number: LO5 To be considered for this position or other opportunities, contact Tash Johnson at Equal Resourcing Ltd or click "Apply Now" Equal Resourcing Ltd is serving as a recruitment agency for this job opening.
