The ideal candidate will:
1. Have a strong interest in aquatics and fishkeeping, with previous experience preferred but not essential
2. Be enthusiastic about the hobby and committed to promoting responsible fishkeeping practices
3. Be self-motivated, organised, and able to manage their time effectively
4. Have a positive, proactive attitude and take pride in their work
5. Be approachable, friendly, and confident when interacting with customers
6. Be willing to learn and continuously develop their knowledge of aquatic livestock and products
7. Work well both independently and as part of a close-knit, supportive team
8. Be practical, hands-on, and comfortable working in a physically active role
What Does the Role Involve?
As a Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in the daily running of the store. Your responsibilities will include:
Livestock Care & Store Maintenance
9. Assisting in the care and maintenance of a wide variety of aquatic livestock, including fish and plants
10. Monitoring water quality and ensuring tanks are clean, healthy, and well-maintained
11. Feeding livestock and observing for health and well-being
12. Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the store
Customer Service & Sales
13. Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all customers
14. Offering knowledgeable advice tailored to customers of all experience levels
15. Helping customers select appropriate livestock and equipment responsibly
16. Promoting best practices in fishkeeping and ensuring livestock is sold responsibly
17. Processing transactions accurately and efficiently
Retail & Merchandising
18. Replenishing stock and ensuring shelves are fully stocked and well presented
19. Pricing products correctly and maintaining clear, accurate displays
20. Assisting with deliveries and organising stock in storage areas
21. Supporting promotional displays and seasonal merchandising
Teamwork & Store Environment
22. Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive team environment
23. Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the store
24. Contributing to a workplace culture that is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and customer-focused
