Job Overview
Band 5 Podiatrist within the Podiatry Team based in South Essex, covering Basildon, Southend on Sea and Shoeburyness. Work includes wound care, home visits, biomechanics, nail surgery and is part of a multidisciplinary foot team within the Acute Trust, supported by the Essex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Responsibilities
* New patient assessment clinics
* Routine podiatry clinics
* Ulcer clinics
* Nail surgery
* Shadow specialist musculoskeletal podiatrists and specialist diabetes podiatrists in the multidisciplinary diabetic foot service
* Provide high‑quality patient care across South Essex, requiring extensive travel
* Work independently and as part of a team, applying efficient communication skills
* Maintain accurate and appropriate documentation in compliance with Trust policies
* Participate in audits, research, and service improvement activities
* Deliver training and education to patients, students and other health professionals
* Offer peer support across the trust and act as a role model for foot health management
* Adhere to safeguarding, mental capacity, Caldicott and data protection requirements
* Comply with health & safety, local guidelines and risk management practices
* Help to advocate and share best practice, seeking innovation and appropriate change
Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Podiatric medicine
* Certificate for local anaesthesia
* Registered with HCPC
* Car driver or car owner essential (business mileage compensated)
* Subject to Enhanced DBS disclosure
* Excellent clinical and communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Committed to mandatory training, supervision, yearly appraisals, CPD and preceptorship programme
* Proven experience in wound care, home visits, biomechanics or nail surgery is desirable
