Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced commercial contracts lawyer to join our in-house legal team. This role involves negotiating contracts, advising on legal matters, and supporting the firm's risk management and compliance efforts. We offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options, and support work-life balance.
Responsibilities
1. Negotiate contracts with clients, including MSAs and framework agreements, and advise on contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
2. Review and improve standard terms of business based on negotiation experiences and operational issues.
3. Handle various commercial contracting issues, such as data-sharing, secondment agreements, software supply contracts, and interpretation of contractual provisions.
4. Advise colleagues on risk management, compliance, and legal issues arising from the firm's services.
5. Collaborate with the Office of the General Counsel and risk-management team to provide legal advice and support.
6. Mentor less experienced lawyers, providing feedback and development opportunities.
7. Identify and mitigate legal and operational risks, updating templates and procedures as needed.
8. Educate colleagues on legal and risk issues through training and guidance materials.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with:
1. Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
2. Good knowledge of professional liability law.
3. Understanding of professional services contracting and risk management.
4. Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach.
5. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
6. Experience managing and developing colleagues.
