Due to the continued expansion of the business, we have an exciting opportunity for a Yard Manager to join our team at our Northamptonshire HQ. Previous experience in a similar management role is essential for this position. Additional performance related pay available. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Develop and maintain effective levels of communication with office and field staff. Participate in daily team briefings to outline priority tasks for the day. Manage Vehicle fleet repairs, maintenance & servicing regimes. Oversee maintenance, servicing, and repair of small and large plant equipment Diagnose faults and carry out hands-on repairs to equipment such as chippers, chainsaws, and associated arboricultural tools Respond to breakdowns and call-outs as required Ensure all equipment is maintained, organised, compliant, and legally up to date Manage and maintain PUWER, LOLER, and calibration schedules Oversee small tool inspections, repairs, write-offs, and replacements Manage the 3-monthly small tools maintenance programme Liaise with and manage external service and repair suppliers Maintain accurate records, spreadsheets, and servicing logs Manage consumable stock related to plant and equipment Support and implement 5S standards within the yard Arrange fitter visits to Cumbria and Rotherham depots as required Maintain high housekeeping standards within the yard Ensure correct PPE is worn at all times Work one weekend day per month where required (paid as overtime) Drive company vehicles safely and legally Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience Full UK Driving Licence Experience in staff management and leadership Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment Experience maintaining arboricultural plant and equipment Hands-on approach with the ability to fix and maintain tools and machinery Good IT skills, including use of email and spreadsheets Strong organisational and planning skills Ability to prioritise workload and meet targets Reliable, punctual, and adaptable Experience working in a yard or similar environment Relevant mechanical qualification (NVQ or equivalent) Interest in arboriculture Desirable SMSTS or relevant management qualification Experience with PUWER and LOLER regulations Plant operator qualifications (e.g. Telehandler) Manual Handling certification First Aid qualification
