About the Role

West Sussex, Brighton & Hove | Community & Home-Based Support | Car Owner‑Driver Essential

West Onwards is our specialist regional team delivering high‑intensity, complex‑needs support packages to individuals across West Sussex, Brighton, and Hove. We are seeking skilled, compassionate Support Workers to join this growing service, providing personalised mental health support to people in their own homes and within the community.

This is a varied, meaningful role supporting individuals with complex presentations who require consistent, psychologically informed care. If you thrive on making a real impact and enjoy working across different locations, we want to hear from you.

💛 About West Onwards

West Onwards provides bespoke community support for adults with mental health diagnoses, neurodiversity, and complex needs who may have experienced trauma, hospital stays, or periods of instability. Our approach is person‑centred, strengths‑based, and psychologically informed, focused on enabling people to live safely and independently in their community.

Support workers travel across the region to deliver structured, meaningful support tailored to each person’s goals, risks, and circumstances.

✨ What You’ll Be Doing

In this dynamic regional role, you will:

* Support individuals with complex needs in their own homes and community settings.
* Facilitate a person‑centred service ethos and promote independence.
* Complete dynamic risk assessments and develop structured support plans.
* Promote wellbeing and appropriately manage risk at all times.
* Use therapeutic de‑escalation and crisis‑intervention techniques where required.
* Encourage engagement, participation, and personal growth.
* Work flexibly to meet support needs across the region.
* Maintain accurate records and uphold company and national policies.


Car owner‑drivers are essential, as support is delivered across multiple locations.

Mileage/travel expenses are paid for all journeys outside your normal commute.




Essential Skills

🌼 What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants who are:

* Compassionate, patient, and resilient.
* Able to build trusting relationships with individuals with complex needs.
* Skilled in addressing or constructively challenging inappropriate or negative behaviours.
* Adaptable, responsive, and able to manage changing support needs.
* Confident using Microsoft Office and maintaining clear documentation.
* Car owner‑drivers (essential due to the regional travel element).


Ideal experience:

Some background in social care, mental health, neurodiversity support, or community‑based roles.
