About the role
My client is seeking a Senior Underwriting Performance Analyst to play a key role in monitoring and improving underwriting performance across a portfolio of Lloyd's syndicates. Reporting to the Underwriting Performance Manager, you'll deliver high‑quality analytical insights, support the Lloyd's business planning cycle, and contribute to regulatory reporting—helping ensure clients operate within a robust underwriting management framework.
What you'll do
Provide analytical insights to support the Underwriting Performance Manager—track performance against plan/KPIs, diagnose variances, and flag risks and opportunities.
Act as day‑to‑day contact for operational and analytical queries from managed clients and Lloyd's; prepare materials, track queries, and provide background analysis ahead of meetings.
Support the Lloyd's business planning process across a defined portfolio—validate submissions, ensure completeness/accuracy, and align with Lloyd's requirements; draft narrative components and performance summaries.
Produce monitoring packs and dashboards for portfolio oversight; collaborate with MI & Analytics to enhance reporting quality, templates, and automation.
Assist with regulatory underwriting returns to Lloyd's—ensure data integrity, consistency, and timely submission; liaise with clients to gather inputs and resolve queries.
Participate in governance forums for the portfolio and, where required, deputise for the Underwriting Performance Manager.
Contribute to internal projects and working groups related to underwriting performance and Lloyd's market changes.
Provide oversight and mentoring to analysts/assistants as needed; share best practices and support technical skill development.
What you'll bring
3+ years' experience in insurance—ideally in underwriting, actuarial, finance, operations, or related fields.
Understanding of the Lloyd's market—how syndicates operate within the market and as part of a managing agency.
Highly numerate with strong attention to detail—able to deliver precise work to tight deadlines.
Confident communicator—credible with senior management, clients, and regulators; strong written and verbal skills.
Organised and proactive—excellent planning skills, able to prioritise and collaborate to meet competing deadlines.
Sound judgement—comfortable progressing issues independently and knowing when to escalate.
Growth mindset—eager to learn and develop.
Tech‑fluent—advanced Excel skills with a natural ability to pick up new systems quickly. (Experience with MI/BI tools is a plus.)
