Role Overview
As an Assistant Plant Manager you will assist the Plant Manager in the day‑to‑day operations, compliance and improvement of the Residues Services areas and associated facilities. You will report to the Plant Manager – Residues Services and be located at Springfields Fuel Site. This is an onsite role.
Responsibilities
* Deputise for the Plant Manager where required.
* Plan and execute daily plant operations following SIOP.
* Maintain compliance with regulatory and safety case requirements, including the preparation and maintenance of safety case documents.
* Improve all aspects of plant and personnel safety.
* Define, measure and improve Key Performance Indicators (SQCPD).
* Process mapping for identification and delivery of plant improvements.
* Provide advice and guidance on technical aspects of plant operations, including technical and operational problem solving.
* Monitor and improve Cost of Poor Quality, Yield and Right First‑Time metrics.
* Liaise with external customer representatives and other stakeholders (internal and external).
* Develop and coach plant personnel.
* Monitor and improve cost per unit.
Qualifications
* Engineering Degree (minimum 2:2) qualified or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline. Candidates may be considered based on suitable relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a production operations environment.
* Knowledge of operations management and planning is preferred but other candidates considered.
* Background in the chemical industry and awareness of hazardous materials. Candidates with experience in similar industries will be considered.
* Knowledge of Nuclear Safety Regulations, Safety Cases for nuclear facilities and COMAH.
* Lean Manufacturing experience (including Process Mapping), high‑performance leadership and practical problem‑solving skills would be an advantage.
