Senior Analyst, Data Engineering

The Data and Insights Division is comprised of four key areas: Data Governance and Intelligence, Data Acquisition, Quality, Strategy and Literacy, Data Insights, and Data Architecture, Platform and Engineering (DAPE). This role offers an opportunity to design a data strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and implement the delivery of data effectively. The DAPE Division establishes guidelines and standards for building a secure, resilient data platform and supports the data ecosystem, driving towards the data strategy and advancing the decommissioning roadmap.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for undertaking root cause analysis and translating data analyst findings into meaningful technical specifications for development. You’ll direct workstreams across projects, providing oversight, coordination, and technical leadership to secure successful data delivery.

What you’ll be doing

* Deep dive into data using root cause analysis to produce meaningful insights.
* Manage changes to project requirements, ensuring they are clearly understood and delivered effectively by your team.
* Engage early with new initiatives, helping build scope and objectives so data impacts and dependencies are fully understood.
* Work closely with Project Managers to ensure Agile epics and stories are well defined and tracked through to delivery.
* Ensure projects are scoped, initiated, and prioritised in line with organisational and change control processes.
* Support smooth handover of project deliverables into Data Operations, with clear ownership and support models in place.

Essential Skills and Experience

* Experience in root cause and data analysis.
* Snowflake and SQL coding experience.
* Ability to explain complex technical topics to non‑technical audiences, including advising when a technical approach may not be appropriate.
* Strong collaboration skills, with experience building effective working relationships across multiple business areas.
* Experience working closely with data engineering teams, ensuring requirements are clear and complete before development starts.
* Experience working collaboratively with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Testers, and Developers, following project lifecycle guidelines.

Desirable Experience

* Familiarity with Agile delivery approaches such as Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, or Lean.
* Solid grasp of data quality principles, including accuracy, consistency, validity, and integrity, and the value high‑quality data brings to the organisation.

What's in it for you?

* Competitive parental leave (26 weeks full pay).
* Private medical insurance (optional taxable benefit).
* 10% non‑contributory pension (increasing with length of service).

We also reward you for the work you do through our discretionary annual bonus scheme that reflects both personal and company performance, competitive annual leave allowance (28 days plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days), and an online rewards platform with a variety of discounts.

Reasonable Adjustments

We’re an equal opportunities employer and want to ensure our recruitment process is accessible and inclusive for all. If you require reasonable adjustment(s) at any stage please let us know by emailing us at careers@sjp.co.uk.

Research tells us that applicants (especially those from underrepresented groups) can be put off from applying for a role if they do not meet all the criteria or have been on an extended career‑break. If you think you would be a good match for this role and can demonstrate some transferable experience please apply, regardless of whether you tick every box.

As a business regulated by the FCA we would advise you to familiarise yourself with the conduct regulations and in particular consumer duty obligations prior to an interview with SJP.
