Are you ready to make a real difference in healthcare?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to join the Production team at NHS Scotland Pharmaceutical Specials Service. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the manufacture and development of high-quality pharmaceutical products within a regulated environment.

PSS provides a national service providing patients across the UK with access to quality unlicensed medicines that are not commercially available from licensed manufacturers or are in short supply, and to provide Investigational Medicinal Products for clinical trials and research across the UK. The aim of the Production department is to manufacture and supply safe, quality and effective medicinal products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure all production activities are carried out in compliance with GMP, GCP, and relevant legislation in accordance with MHRA, BSI, and Home Office Controlled Drugs licence requirements.
2. Identify, document, and report any problems, deviations, or non-conformances in a timely manner.
3. Contribute to new product development, including the design and optimisation of manufacturing methods, preparation of associated documentation, and assessment of product stability.
4. Maintain accurate and compliant production records in line with quality system standards.
5. Collaborate closely with colleagues across Production, Quality Assurance, and Research & Development to support continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Applications are welcomed from registered Pharmacists. Candidates would benefit from prior experience and/or knowledge of GMP, pharmaceutical manufacture, aseptic dispensing or quality assurance. However, full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Why Join Us?

6. Be part of a nationally recognised service delivering high-quality, patient-specific medicines.
7. Work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with opportunities for innovation and leadership.
8. Access professional development and training opportunities and career progression within NHS Scotland.
