Job Description: Principal Nuclear Safety Lead
Within the Nuclear Safety area, you will deliver technically competent documents, striving to exceed client requirements by working independently and supporting experienced safety consultants.
You will support clients in projects related to new build, decommissioning, or ongoing operational facilities by providing safety cases and associated assessments. The role requires ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, on time, and within the agreed programme. As projects progress, or new opportunities arise, you will have the chance to develop new skills and support, mentor graduate consultants within the business.
The Principal Nuclear Safety Lead will deliver complex nuclear safety cases, with experience across the full lifecycle of facilities, to various clients.
Responsibilities:
* Developing and presenting robust, reasoned arguments in a rational and coherent manner.
* Delivering consultancy that exceeds client expectations in terms of technical excellence and quality of deliverables.
* Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget, supporting the long-term growth and reputation of the business.
* Managing small to medium-sized projects as a project or technical lead.
* Tracking all aspects of project progress and liaising with stakeholders on technical and commercial matters.
* Developing skills within growing projects.
* Identifying opportunities with clients and supporting, mentoring, coaching, and helping others develop within the business.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Excellent oral and written communication skills for liaising with external stakeholders and team members.
* Ability to independently seek solutions to challenging technical questions.
* Strong organizational skills to manage personal and team deadlines, exceeding client expectations.
* Excellent report writing skills.
* Minimum of 8 years of professional engineering or technical specialist experience.
* Degree or equivalent in engineering, science, or a related field.
* Experience in managing and producing complex safety cases for various plant types and lifecycle stages, working independently within a team.
* Good working knowledge of the Quality Management System (QMS), particularly regarding 'Opportunity to Order' and 'Order to Project Completion' requirements.
* Understanding of the NEC 3 contract system.
* Familiarity with decommissioning, optioneering, human factors, radioactive materials transport, licensing, and radioactive waste management.
* Ability to obtain or already possess SC clearance.
