University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor to join their team. The successful candidate will work part-time, providing therapeutic care to inpatients at Worthing Hospital under the supervision of Occupational Therapists.
The role involves carrying out treatment programmes, accompanying/assisting on home assessments, and participating in general administration and housekeeping tasks. The ideal candidate will have good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Main Duties
Apply technical and creative skills to provide a patient-centered programme of Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments under the supervision of a registered Occupational Therapist.
Work effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing a programme of Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments for a selected caseload of patients.

Job Responsibilities
* Manage a selected caseload of patients under regular supervision to carry out assessments and treatments.
* Carry out follow-up visits to patients in their homes under guidance from an Occupational Therapist.
* Arrange for the provision of standard specialist disability equipment and teach patients how to use it.
* Demonstrate understanding of manual handling legislation and best practices.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good level of education - 4 GCSE's at Grade C or above or equivalent.
* A recognized qualification in an area related to the post or equivalent life skill.
Knowledge & Experience
* Awareness of Health & Safety issues and Risk Management.
* Experience of dealing with people and working within a team.
* Experience working as an OT Tech in an acute hospital.
Skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to develop effective working and therapeutic relationships.
* Ability to identify and analyze problems and offer solutions.
