We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and modification of all site mechanical systems and equipment. This role focuses heavily on plumbing, pipefitting, and steam operations. You will work closely with the Maintenance Manager and Facilities Manager to ensure the safe and efficient running of our mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform mechanical repairs, improvements, and modifications across company facilities.
* Complete mechanical tests and reports, and carry out necessary repairs.
* Deliver planned preventative maintenance and complete all job documentation.
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests.
* Support a high level of customer satisfaction.
* Advise the Facilities Manager on mechanical maintenance needs and changes in practices/regulations.
* Install copper and iron pipework across the site.
* Operate and monitor site boilers (oil and steam). Steam training can be provided.
* Operate and maintain the site’s biomass boiler.
* Assist with training new team members.
* Monitor plumbing and pipefitting stock levels and support stock checks.
* Provide on‑call cover outside normal working hours.
* Complete assigned tasks and projects from the Facilities or Maintenance Manager.
* Promote good working practices and strong team relationships.
* Contribute to continuous improvement with a focus on sustainability.
* Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations.
* Report safety indicators to the EHS team when needed.
* Maintain a safe and tidy work area.
* Provide cover for other team members as needed.
* Perform other reasonable duties as requested.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Required:
* City & Guilds Mechanical Installation (minimum)
* Steam qualification or equivalent hands‑on experience
* Basic IT literacy
* Experience working in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines
* Experience maintaining steam boilers
* Planned preventative maintenance experience
* HVAC knowledge
* LTHW boiler experience
* Basic controls experience
* Installation experience (plumbing/pipework)
* Mechanical fault‑finding skills
