Description
Marlborough Highways have a fantastic opportunity for a Bid Writer to join their growing team based in Chelmsford, Essex. As Bid Writer you will lead the production of winning quality submissions, working closely with the Bid Director to set the strategy for these submissions, focussing on the development of win themes through analysis of client intelligence and corporate strategies. We are looking for someone proactive and with an energetic approach who can bring a wealth of experience to Marlborough in developing compelling quality submissions that sets us apart from the competition .
Key Responsibilities
During Tender Periods
* Take responsibility for production of all written responses either as lead author or as support to other members of the bid team. This will include owning and writing specific responses, undertaking interviews with Marlborough operational and corporate support staff and proof reading / correcting documents produced by others. Supporting other Bid Writers in the development of other responses to quality questions.
* Produce written quality sections / responses for all aspects of the delivery process either from own knowledge or information gained by interview from the internal teams.
* Research client background & strategies and relate that information to the Bid Team.
* Meet key subcontractors / suppliers to obtain evidence of past works and the tender specific developed solution.
* Attend site visits to gain onsite knowledge and develop case studies.
* Support the Bid Director in development of presentation preparation for both mid-bid presentations and post submission presentations.
Post Submission
* Attend pre and post-award meetings with clients to facilitate operational and commercial handover of the project.
* Meet clients on successful & unsuccessful bids to gather feedback on quality and use this information to continually improve for future tenders.
Continual Improvement
* Assist with development and maintenance of bid collateral – e.g. case studies.
* Attend project close out meetings and facilitate production of suitable material.
* Visit live contracts to review current best practice and feedback knowledge into Bid Team.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Degree level qualification or demonstration of capability through experience.
* Excellent writing and presentation skills.
* Proficient in the use of relevant IT software.
* Track record of leading bid submissions.
* Experience in management/mentoring of direct reports.
* Ability to juggle multiple priorities with demanding timescales.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to build effective relationships and communicate well across the Marlborough business.
* Ability to continually improve the quality of work sent out by Marlborough.
* Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
