Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust has ambitious plans to transform healthcare in North Manchester through the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) Redevelopment Programme which will deliver a new hospital and health campus at the existing North Manchester General Hospital site. This major investment will support the transformation of how we deliver our services and create modern facilities that support world‑class clinical care for our communities. This role provides a unique opportunity to be part of one of the largest public sector health transformation programmes being delivered across Manchester.
As part of the Digital Workstream the NMGH New Hospital Project Intelligent Hospital Capability (IHC) Manager will contribute to the delivery of future‑ready healthcare infrastructure aligned with national standards and intelligent hospital design principles. This position supports the integration of intelligent hospital capabilities, including digitally empowered patients through accessible, interoperable systems; smart buildings designed with embedded digital infrastructure to support real‑time data, automation, and predictive maintenance; digitally enabled staff with tools that enhance clinical workflows and decision‑making; hospitals without walls, promoting integrated care across physical and virtual environments.
The NMGH New Hospital Project Intelligent Hospital Capability (IHC) Manager will be responsible for the management of the IHC prioritisation and technical specification delivery to support market engagement, cost analysis and benefits quantification. The post will play a lead role in working with clinical and operational service delivery leads to articulate system requirements to a level required to enable market engagement for the new hospital IHCs including Smart Building technologies.
The market engagement will support business case delivery by articulating financial costs (capital/revenue) and benefits. It will also inform the IHC prioritisation and identify any initial Proof of Concepts/Value (PoC/V) that could be implemented early and delivering benefit ahead of the opening of the new NMGH. The role will play a pivotal role in working alongside colleagues to develop the Digital Commercial and Procurement strategy for the scheme as well as informing Digital Strategy and Roadmap delivery through clinical engagement with our target operating model design leads.
